Yes I can do wear rates. I think you are right lets start over with bmw f108 only and work from there. I'll start off with the tires and aero push fix and go from there.

are you going to try the BMW engine files? I kinda with cks, in thinking we should start with the stock 08 ISI, and make minimal changes to it, like the aero push and the wear rate of the tires, not the grip...

I like having only 2 choices for tires, one for a one stopper and one for a 2 stopper strat. I think 3 stoppers would come into play with a 100% race, but not so much in a 75% race, softs should not be able to do half the race. Cant the wear rate be adjusted and not the grip?

Testing times for Bahrain are in line with Massa's practice session (see www.formula1.com) races laps @ mid 1.33s. They Q'd at 1.31s but I haven't tried to Q yet, as I usually don't.

CKS what times are you getting at Melbourne?

MMG, I didn't change that because I thought Pace used the BMW file. With more HP, then it could be the tires I put together are doing exactly what I set out to do.

For the aero, if you look at all the sections oof the SE_BASE.hdv, Front wing, Rear wing, left fender, Right fender, Diffuser, and bodyaero sections you'll see that there is the value *DraftLiftMult=******. the first * = each section name and 6 *s = the valued effect. such as FWDraftLiftMult=0.8 FW is front wing RW=rear wing and so on. For each section I reduced 75% of that value, thus reducing 75% draft effect while behind another car. Now, there could be the change that might have a negative effect on drag and slowing the car down. I wouldn't think so because when your testing you usually don't do it around other cars. Plus each section in the file has like 4 or 5 effects with the name drag in it. Which I didn't touch. now the fender settings are null, because there is a // in front of the those values which rf does not read those lines that start with //.

Now, follow me here as this is what I found in the MMG, bmw07 and 08, and our 2008 mod engine files:

For the 07 MMG mod the peak was:
Maximum Torque: 317 NM @ 17,000 RPM
Maximum Power: 777 horsepower @ 18,000 RPM
Maximum Revs: 19,000 RPM

However the BMW f1.07 engine is (the bmw f1.08 engine file is the same):
Maximum Torque: 315 NM @ 15,500 RPM
Maximum Power: 721 horsepower @ 17,500 RPM
Maximum Revs: 19,000 RPM

The engine file Pace gave us was:
Is the same as the MMG, Pace didn't put the BMW F1.07 engine file in the patch. So we had alittle over 50 more HP that way.

Since that was not changed in my mod, it's the same, 777hp. When we tested the 08 bmw mod, the car was great because it had good exit traction, which is aided thru the 50hp weaker engine. The MMG has more torque and HP in a bigger RPM range than the BMW file. So if we used the BMW files, we'd be slower than what we are testing now. I like the sound of that already! lol

Looking at both SE_BASE.hdv files, they both are the same except where we removed the draft effect for this year and were i had (put it back in) a value for the 2009 mod (at 75% reduction). That seems to be the difference and that might be making more drag or something to slow the cars in top speed. Like the car was not as restricted before, now they are. Bad drag will kill straight line speed but will disappear the moment you are in a slipstream and your car will feel like you just gained 50 more HP. I kinda like the slower car as the times look better rather than alien.

I could be corner exit speeds. A few mph faster on exit could become a lot more at the end of the straight. It would be an easy thing to check.

Josh says:

Quote:

Major, and only, changes from the BMW F1.08 is the draft effect on the downforce while cornering behind another car

I don't see how this is the only physics mod from stock BMW F1.08? From a comparision of the 2008 season FiHS mod I found the follwing:
(I tried the stock F1.08 mod - I tested at Brazil and was supprised that I needed to take 8 clicks off the rear wing to get the same top speed (199-200mph for me), maybe less hp in the BMW? I was also supprised that my times dropped to low/mid 1.11's from high 1.9's. which lines up better with real F1.)

I also tried Josh's new testing mod using a setup I did for the stock BMW F1.08 mod at Albert Park and found basically the same thing.

My only point is the alteration of the physics seems more extensive than Josh described and whats wrong with the stock BMW F1.08 mod? it seemed better to me than both the baseline and new testing FiHS mods.

Thursday is the NAGT series test. If you are going to give those a few laps, I would recommend testing as many of the cars as you can. They all drive a bit different.
