Logitech G25 paddle shift switches

Post by JohnW » Mon Jan 16, 2012 11:39 pm

toward the end of last season, I had some slight trouble with the left paddle shift button on my G25. Some times is would not shift, sometimes it felt like it shifted in the corner without pressing it ( This could have been FFB happening and with my finger close to the paddle it COULD have pressed the switch ).

I suspect I have a dirty micro switch or , worst case, one going bad. A quick web search didn't turn up places selling parts, and Logitech won't do that. Anyone have a link to share for Logi parts ? ( Some time back, Mouser or Digitech , two electronics supply houses, had parts for some Logitech products )

I remember finding switches to replace on my DFP at Radio Shack. I had the same problem as well, wouldn't shift or I would get double and quatriple shifts in an instant. Spun my car out so many times.

I figure I'll need to open the back of the wheel and see if I can see what they used.

You sure your paddle isn't bent a little to where it isn't hitting the switch good? I had the opposite problem. I would double shift and I bent the paddle out a tiny bit and haven't had the problem anymore.

Hello
First a lot of people have looked for and asked for parts and have had no help from Logitec.
The best case senerio was to find a decent cost affective used one on ebay or other for parts.

Have you tried taking a air can and blowing the h..l out of it and getting dirt and stuff out of it.

Do your self a favor and don't spray wd40 in there they do have elec switch and circuit cleaner that does not have oils in it.

Actually John, if you are going to fix the button and you know how to use a soldering gun, you could just find a switch style to your liking that as the prongs close the original and customize it. Who says you have to have the exact same switch? Radio Shack has a ton of micro switches (the one I bought, matched my logitech wheel exactly), our local shop has many on hand and they are really cheap. I'm willing to bet because the G25 is a Logitech, the button is most likely very similar if not the same.

You just need a switch that is spring loaded to the off position. i would get one that has a raised cap so it would make better contact with the paddle. I remember not liking the G25 because the paddle reaction was to slow.

I haven't had an issue with the paddle being slow, so even the same switch would be fine.

I wish I could add a couple of switches to the front of the wheel, while I was at it, but there is more to it. I saw the link Sean posted about the add on. It reminded me of the rig Pace built.

I'm building a rig now. I'm tired of this damn chair moving back while I'm racing. :)

I took the wheel off and did some measuring. I haven't determined what an exact replacement will be. I also soaked them with contract cleaner.
