Wheels wheels wheels

Post by Shabo » Mon Apr 15, 2013 2:19 pm

Hi guys just asking for a little insight and your take, I have a g27 with a Nixim brake mod and leo bodnar cable and I love the setup but I am looking at getting something with a little more "balls" I was thinking the thrustmaster T500 or the fanatic CSR setup and just wondering what everyone opionion on them are.

Just so you know what I am talking about.....

and this for the wheels

with these pedals...

all told that setup is upwards of 1000 USD, or get the Thrustmaster setup....

I don't mind my g27 but I'm looking to get something even better. Just trying to decide how much better the value is for the thrustmaster over the fanatec. I know Copper loves his fanatec but that f1 wheel is lacking. I suppose I could just make/find a f1 mod for the g27 but the force feedback and lack of "feel" in Rfactor, to me is lacking.

But just about every wheel I've found is wicked expensive!!

Are you looking for *rear end/tail end input feel*? Or overall feel with the wheel with the Rf mod?

I know there is a difference in the feel of the wheels an mods, if you find a mod that suits g25-27, I'll be surprised its not more out there in forums.

If you decide to make the mod, that suits g25-g27 *think long term here* It would need to be F1,Nascar, or Sports Saloon imo

The next question: how long before the next wheel, is or will be released, an weather *racers in general, will buy an or make the jump*

As for the mod: I cant comment,I'm no mod expert, but make it challenging, cater for novice/med/pro/alien drivers
imo a fixed set, would even the field out.

my suggestion:
do a pros/cons list between the two wheels, If you haven't already, go to the forums of both, look at other racing site forums about both wheels
hope that helps

The last D is yours :D ... Thrustmaster or Frantec

I've was going to add buttons to my G25 over the off season, but I didn't get around to it. There is room under the hood of the G25 to put in a small controller from some other device and run a second USB cord out the back. I just want the controller ID to be loaded after the G25 so I can leave it unplugged or even unplug it during a race, if it gets messed up. Sean has a 3rd party add on board for his Logitech wheel, and it did give him some early issues.

I now think it would of been better for me to buy a cheaper wireless controller (xbox type) and use the buttons and boards out of that, then no routing any wires thru wheel.

really looking for first hand accounts from guys that have had both is tough, lots of the "reviews" online aren't really comparing them to much. I think at the end of the day I might just go with the thrustmaster, for the fact that they are readily available and that they have great customer service and everything Ive bought from them has always been top notch quality wise. well see though, probably gonna bite the bullet at the END of the season, not now
