F1 2012 Final V3 Update

Post by JoshJ81 » Sat Mar 31, 2012 5:59 am

DOWNLOAD HERE

Due many drops and lockups with many different computers, we have decided to remove KERS and DRS plug-in for Round 3 of China. After a small test many drivers reported that their computers were performing at a high rate with F1RFT.dll and rFDynHUD.dll disabled. However, giving that we did not have as many people on the server to get a full load, we were not able to duplicate drops from the server. Therefore the Round at China will be a main testing session because we will most likely have more than enough people on the server to see if we can duplicate any of the same problems we have had from the first 2 rounds with those plugins disabled. This will help me narrow down what the issue really is, either it's the main mod itself or just the plugins. (Hopefully, its the plugins as I have a second option in waiting)

Since we are not sure which plugin is causing the problem, we going to disable both.
To do so, you can do one of two things:
1) go to rFactor/Plugins folder, locate the F1RFT.dll and rFDynHUD.dll files and delete them.
2) go to rFactor/Plugins folder, locate the F1RFT.dll and rFDynHUD.dll files, zip them up and then delete them.

You cannot just rename the plugins because they will still work.

DO NOT DELETE THE FiHS.dll PLUGINthat is still required

It is your option to remove the rFDynHUD, it will still show the KERS/DRS graphics but KERS/DRS will not be working. However, I highly recommend for this round to disable it completely so we can get to the bottom of our issues.
Change log:
This update ensures KERS and DRS cannot be used by anyone.
Added JKim and his helmet to the #6 Ferrari and removed David Carney
Updated Trackconfigbase.ini file to recognize the correct tire for the new China track
Updated all vehicle information so the KER/DRS plugin cannot be recognized for use.

No more DRS and KERS? I am heartbroken...shattered almost.

Almost.

It also removes the "easter egg" feature we never told you about, where you get a half naked pit girl standing in front of your car, when you hit the grid. I figured some one would stumble onto that feature, by now , but no one mentioned it. You just had to know what key to press to enable it. All the work we put into those HD like quality images will all be for nothing, when the HUD/KERS is off.

Its a shame we have to do away with KERS/DRS. I was really liking it. It was something new and challenging to get right, and I can say it got me more interested and excited about this year. I even bought a real MOMO racing wheel and special button plate just for this year and KERS/DRS. Hopefully we can get to the root of the problem with the drops and bring back KERS/DRS someday.

If we can get to the root of the problem, we will be in a better place to fix it. If it turns out it is the plugin that creates KERS and DRS, then we can try another one. If it 's simply the HUD plugin , then perhaps we can run without graphic input. I know that would not be a great solution, but no one likes getting dumped off the server, especially, when we move to the race session. The USF1 league is using a different set of plugins, so that could be plan B. If we could seriously test it will a full group of drivers , then we could possibly figure this out without dropping it for one race, as a test. The core problem with any of these plugins is that they are not simple text file changes. They are Windows DLLs , created with the C++ language and compiled. That means without the original C++ source code, we can't edit them or peek into their guts at all. We have gotten NO response from the plugin creator in Europe. I do have some questions posted in the rFactor development forum, but they have not been responded to, as of yet.

I had these lockups as well, and the cause was d3d.dll, combined with MSI Afterburner.

The fix was to un-tick Enable low-level hardware access interface, as seen on this screen:

KERS and DRS would be nice, if possible.
