2020 F1 Season: Round 13

Post by JohnW » Wed Jul 22, 2020 7:55 pm

Hungary.

I see SRH is going to do a partial wet race. Do you all want to do that here, since you'll be practicing for it, there ?

Server is loaded up. I need to edit the JSON files to add all the things we have set. Something about the JSON files were creating and issue and I had to revert to the stock ones.

With advice from a guy in the rF2 forums who had the same issues, I've removed the JSON files that setup the racing environment and let the game recreate it's own. Theory is that an update a number of weeks back corrupted the JSONs and no mater what you did, they might cause issues. I'll add settings a bit at a time.

Maybe a wet race later in the season, when we're more confident of the server?

Steam just took a dump while I was practicing. Connection lost, RF 2 shut down.

I had the rF2 app off for a minute to install Live Racers. I'll finish the TeamSpeak install tomorrow.

Terrible qual, terrible start, terrible race!

I was chasing Haynie with about 15 laps to go and about .7 seconds behind him when a lap car let him by in the chicane, but decided not to let me by in the same spot. I flat spotted the tire trying not to hit the lap car. I knew it was over at that point, trying to catch him. I just hammed the throttle into the fence and bailed.

I think a bit more awareness might be useful.
I know it's a pain and I have to do it in SRH sometimes. You feel you're spending more time letting guys by than racing. I heard Glyn say something about a lap car earlier in the race too. Anyway that's all I'm saying on this subject right now.

I missed the last race, and that time not behind the wheel showed. I tried working the wings lower and higher and playing with the ARBs but nothing showed any improvement. I just went with trying to find a front to rear balance that I could drive.

I was doing OK, be realized I was running a bit hot after the first stop. Left a smoke trail leaving the pits, but it stopped right away. Didn't have the pace to hang with anyone, really, so I just tried to learn the best lines in the corners. I had once spin heading into turn 5, but got away with it. Later, I spun on the exit of 4 and was sideways in the worst part of the track. I opted to try to get out of the way by moving forward, rather than reverse, which turned out to be the wrong choice. I collected Otto who was not having a stellar race anyway.

As to Sean's point.

It is tough to tell if more than one car is throwing the blue flag, if they are running quite close to each other. It looks like one icon on the display. Does anyone know of the Crew Chief plugin says anything about approaching cars, other than " Outside..., Outside..." when you're being overtaken ? I would love to have more warning about the cars behind me.
